Belgian photographer Jan Kempenaers trekked across the Balkans photographing strange communist structures.
To mark the announcement that R.E.M. are splitting two videos this Friday from either end of their career.
Firstly, from 1983 So. Central Rain
and then from 2011: UBerlin
R.E.M. played an important part in my teenage years. I saw them live twice (touring Lifes Rich Pageant and Green) and both times they were great. Although the last 4 or 5 albums have been disappointing Collapse Into Now was [mostly] a welcome return to form.

Dhafer Youssef Quartet – Les Ondes Orientales
The first 5 – 6 minutes are pleasant but then Youssef starts to sing and as his voice soars and soars time seems to stop. He has the most amazing voice in contemporary music.
If you ever get the chance to see them in concert don’t miss it. They are brilliant.
